Simon Tebbutt - FOUNDER & OWNER

Simon opened the doors of Ninth Wave following a four year stint at ApolloNation where he was Head of Shopper & Retail Strategy, Australia & New Zealand

 

Simon has an expansive and experienced marketing background - from client to agency, United Kingdom to Australia, retail to financial services and FMCG, to now leading the Shopper Marketing discipline across both his agency as well as providing a point of view for the activations industry.

 

Simon began his career on the shop floor at Marks & Spencer then Sainsbury’s in London – a humbling and hard-earned introduction into the retail world and an experience he still draws upon to this day. 

 

A move to Australia in 2004 saw Simon  tackle all marketing disciplines – advertising, digital, in-store and catalogue – at Publicis Mojo, BMF and finally at M&C Saatchi where he managed the Woolworths account. 

 

Other brands he has worked with include ALDI, Hewlett Packard, Citibank, GlaxoSmithKline, Sanitarium, Bayer, Pernod Ricard, Proctor & Gamble and Tatts Group.

 

In 2012, Simon was appointed to the new position of Head of Shopper & Retail Strategy for ApolloNation Australia & New Zealand – Australasia’s most-awarded activations agency. His obsession with retail is matched only by his passion for creating big ideas supported by research and insights, earning him the name of ‘Shopper Man’.

  • 2013 – Created and implemented Big Night In & Back to School – new category events for Woolworths.

  • 2012 – Appointed Head of Shopper and Retail Strategy, ApolloNation Australia and New Zealand.

  • 2010 – Appointed as Group Account Director for M&C Saatchi’s client Woolworths – created and implemented the Earn & Learn school’s loyalty programme and the Woolworths shopping mobile app.

  • 2008 – Joined BMF as Group Account Director heading up Aldi across all communication channels.

  • 2006 – Transitioned into a Team Leader position at Publicis Mojo across Hewlett Packard & Citibank.

  • 2004 – Moved to Australia, joining Publicis Mojo as Managing Partner of Triangle – a promotions agency within the company..

  • 2002 – Jury Panellist on the ISP (Institute of Sales & Promotion) Awards, London.

  • 2000 – Appointed Board Director at Storm Marketing, London – part of the Publicis Group.
